Ask Us About TV White Space: IWCE 2011

to interested IWCE attendees

We're back from the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) in Las Vegas, invigorated by all the networking we did with customers and colleagues there.

A show like IWCE offers invaluable opportunities to work directly with customers, to share their excitement about upcoming applications and to find out more about their needs in order to guide the future development of our products.

At IWCE this year, the Carlson Wireless crew was pleased to showcase the new LongHaul ST, our lightning-fast Ethernet bridge, and also to talk about our exciting soon-to-be-released product, RuralConnect IP, which uses TV white-space frequencies for broadband.

We all wore nametags that suggested visitors "Ask Us About TV White Space," and hundreds of interested people stopped by our booth to do just that.

TV white-space technology, which uses vacant TV channels in the VHF/UHF range fro broadband, has the potential to overcome, at last, the line-of-sight constraints that prevent microwave equipment from being usable in rugged terrain.

Rugged terrain and rural communities are our specialties, so we're as excited as our customers are about what TV white space will mean for rural broadband.

This is the technology that Popular Mechanics listed as #2 of "The Top 10 Tech Concepts You Need to Know About," and The Economist calls "Bigger and Better Than Wi-Fi."
